Hi!

We’re looking for someone to do marketing and business development activities to create revenue at WanderStories, long-term. You will be considered a business partner (co-founder) by the founders and as the Marketing Manager you will have the opportunity to shape the destiny and success of WanderStories!

If you are interested in helping real travelers and “armchair travelers” discover famous landmarks in cities round the world and in doing so become part of the success of a new type of travel guide (ad)venture, then read on…

About You

You love to travel. When you travel you want to understand different cultures. You are curious about how people lived in ancient cities, those palaces, castles, huts, markets, and squares. You don’t need a dictionary for words like bazaar, sauna, Daoism, kebab. You don’t need to check an atlas to be sure that the biggest inhabited place called Paris is in France. You are not shocked to learn that a typical street in Rome is some 1,500 years older than the whole of Washington, D.C.

You are a native English speaker and your English is excellent, both spelling and grammar. You are good at writing texts that convey your passion for travel.

You have a knack for visuals to supplement and augment the texts.

Thus, you are able to create marketing materials such as blog posts, reviews, articles, social media posts, newsletters, etc. that generate sales.

You are interested in making the numbers go up and not just writing them down.

You are able to do your job without standing around waiting for direction; you are independently able to understand and solve problems.

You are a bit techie; you are reading e-books and have a tablet.

And above all – you have a selling mindset. You are passionate about finding innovative ways to make money, growing revenue and business.

About WanderStories

WanderStories has been, already for some years, a kind of a family hobby. As our e-books have received very good feedback, we are now turning it into a business. We are looking for a marketing person / business developer who will make it happen.

Are you exploring famous landmarks in cities round the world? Are you looking for more insight than a typical guidebook tells you? Perhaps you would like your own personal tour guide but prefer to visit places at your own pace? You are probably curious about how people lived in those palaces and castles? Maybe you just want to understand people from different cultures better? Well, we have exactly what you need, we tell WanderStories™.

WanderStories™ travel guides are unique because our storytelling style puts you alongside the best local guide who tells you fascinating stories of famous and interesting sights, while a wealth of high quality photos, historic pictures, and illustrations brings your tour vividly to life.

We, at WanderStories, are storytellers. We don’t tell you where to eat or sleep, we don’t intend to replace a typical travel reference guide. Our mission is to be the best local guide that you would wish to have by your side when visiting the sights. So, we meet you at the sight and take you on a tour.

But WanderStories is not limited to publishing e-books. WanderStories is really about creating compelling content about the famous landmarks in cities round the world, so that real travelers and “armchair travelers” would get the best experience. An e-book is just one of many possible product types that contain the content WanderStories creates. We have also launched an e-magazine Armchair Travel Guide to experiment with other product types. We are sure there are many more possibilities to create revenue out of our content.

Things You Will Do

We are looking for a Marketing Manager / Business Developer – a person who will take full responsibility for all our marketing and sales activities. In short – a business developer and revenue generator. We are looking for an on-going, long-term, business partnership.

The work hours are flexible and you’ll earn your pay every day, there is no fixed salary.

On a daily basis you will market our existing products: e-books. You will promote and get natural reviews for e-books. You will create marketing materials and then find ways of getting them to potential customers.

You should be able to do marketing activities efficiently (with very limited budget) and effectively (with big impact and good results). You are expected to have a creative attitude in finding marketing channels that are free or very low cost.

You will also be expected to be active at business development, coming up with new ways to gain revenue, for instance through popular crowdfunding sites (Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc), getting our e-magazine Armchair Travel Guide going, all the way to even perhaps selling TV travel series rights.

We are not interested in the amount of hours you spend; we are interested in the amount of money you are able to generate. Thus, offers that are commission based (your fee is calculated as a certain percentage of the income generated) are preferred over those citing an hourly fee. But we don’t expect you to come up with a final and fixed offer regarding financials when you submit your offer, just indicate your thoughts. The final terms will be negotiated when we discuss the terms with the top five candidates.

We expect you to commit long-term. You will be considered a business partner (co-founder) by the founders and as the Marketing Manager you will have the opportunity to shape the destiny and success of WanderStories!
